5. Make/meet Online Friends (Part 1; Making Friends)

Okay, so I know I haven't been blogging lately, and let's just say almost of the right way/easy challenges are finished, or at least for the winter anyway (besides the snow angel and building a snowman, but seeing as it is five below zero here, I don't think I'll be doing those challenges today) So I have been busy on the internet making friends online, and trying to make a dream catcher which with any luck I'll finish today and blog about tomorrow, (see? I will give you guys spoilers about the future.)

I started out like any other human, I wanted to find something but didn't know where to look, and like anyone trying to find something on the internet we start at Google. I searched "international pen pals" into the search bar, and like almost everyone, I clicked though some websites, and finally picking one website that would do the job I wanted to complete, which was make friends, and one day meet them. I signed up and made a profile and put in a picture of myself. I was a bit nervous because I had heard hundred of stories where girls would talk to people online who thought they were someone their age, and turned out to be some creepy forty or fifty year old man, who would find out where she lives and kidnap her and so and so on, but one big horrible mess. So I didn't that to happen, but I also couldn't let that stop me from completing my challenge. I went over the rules again of the internet in my mind, and made sure not to break these rules.

As I was thinking over these rules, I began to get messages from people, People! people I had never meet, or seen in my life! and didn't even live in the same country as me! I was over joyed. I began to answer their messages, each of us making small talk, but two people went a bit further than just small talk.

One was a girl named Annie who lived in Las Vegas, we played a game of commenting on each other's pictures, I went though probably about thirty to forty pictures, and she went though my one profile picture. we asked each weird questions that you would get if you were playing truth or dare. She even went and asked  me to be friends on my page. (I accepted of course) we talked until I had to get some sleep or else look like a zombie for the entire next day.

The next day I furthered a friendship with a guy named Simo, who lives in Morocco,  we talked a bit for a bit on the website, and than asked for my Skype account so we could talk there, (I've found that a lot of people on the website like to talk on Skype a lot and they tend to ask people for their Skype account) I told them me username, and he told me his, and next minute I was staring straight at him, (Lucky he said who he said he was, I was very happy about that.) We talked some more, I asked him about his trips to Paris, and why he went there every year, and what he was doing. And he in turn asked me about school and what it was like in the U.S.A. my internet  crashed a few times and his did too, and each of us was understanding. We talked late into the night, and than I had to go, but we promised to talk more the next day.

Of course those two people have been my greatest success with this whole online friendship thing, but I am hoping that number will grow, but if not I'm glad to have at least two people that I can call friends. But along with success can come failure, and my failure was with a guy from china, He wanted me to call him on Skype, but I didn't know there was no sound, and with my sister sleeping next to me I didn't want to walk her up. So Long story short, He got mad at me and left, and he hasn't talked to me since, I later looked at his profile and saw that he has trust issues and I felt bad for him,  but he was not my problem and so I moved on and continued to try and make more friends.

Over all I enjoy this challenge, it's fun meeting new people, and my hope is that this will help me for the future when I went to go traveling in the  summer of 2015, when I graduate from high school. 9 challenges down. 491 challenges left to go...
